Happy New Year

Well things have been quiet for me on the photography front - this is mostly due to two reasons the first is my brother is home from New Zealand til Tuesday and I've been working a bit of overtime - photography is an expensive hobby you know. Anyway _ I wanted to wish everyone out there in blogland a Happy New Year - here's to 2011 and many more photos.
I hope to be back very soon with the first photos from the new Year

Icicles

Well, we have had some cold weather in the last week, snow last Friday, and then again Monday, and on Monday it was so bad I had to leave work early and it still took me over an hour to do a journey that normally takes 15 minutes.
Anyway today at my parents house my Dad noticed these beautiful icicles on the outside guttering and of course having my camera on me I just had to take a few pictures

More Snow

The last couple of a days we have had a good bit of snow - well for us anyway - it's nothing compared to places like Finland but for us it's a lot anyway I looked out of the window this morning and thought 'Where's my car?'

Course I was tired as I had only just woken up - but it took my a while to see it and then only because I spotted the aerial sticking up

This was the view from my living room window at 8:00 am this morning - Brrr

I love my camera

I love my camera- I have to admit it's one of my most favourite things ever - I just love using my DSLR and while I still occasionally like to run a film through my Pentax or Nikon - and the digital compact gets an airing on those events that prevent a large camera being used - i.e the Christmas party this weekend coming my DSLR is the camera of choice for me.
It's amazing to think I have had it almost a year now and I am still learning different things about it - still experimenting - and still loving it every time I set up a shot, focus and press that button. I have shot over 5,000 pictures since I got it and I can't wait to take 5,000 more. It's given me more incentive to get out and take pictures.
Last Christmas I got my camera - this Christmas will be documented by it

And in 2011 I intend to take at least 5,000 more - I can't wait - bring it on!!!

Christmas is almost here

I must admit I'm not a big fan of the run up to Christmas - but now with only a week to go and the hard work has been done - the Christmas shopping finished, decorations up - I am actually looking forward to it, so here are some shots of the decorations on the tree - and I am now looking forward to the works party on the weekend - now that should produce somne interesting photos

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Here are a few of the photos took on the walk yesterday

You see the strangest things in Risca

The Long and winding road

Iced Fern

Girls just have to have fun!!!

Yesterday I went for another long walk with my Dad, we headed off again into the hills around where we live following the footpaths -it was a lovely afternoon if a bit cold. Now I don't put many photos of myself on here but today I thought I'd share a few so you can see what trouble I get into on these walks

Now getting across the stile was no problem - but after that things got a bit on the hairy side. Underneath the frozen snow the ground was just that bit slippy, and well I went over on numerous occasions, just couldn't keep my footing - after the shock of the cold and wet it began to get rather amusing especially for my Dad - who thought it was hysterical. When we reached the top of a fairly icy, snowy field and the only way out was at the bottom a hill I thought 'what the hell'
And slid all the way to the bottom near enough. At the bottom these sweet horses came over, probably wondering what I was doing sitting in snow in their field

Anyway after saying hello to the horses we made our way to the pub for a quick half before going home to defrost those parts of me that were numb.

Into the woods

After reaching a small bridge on the canal, decided to go for a walk up into the woods instead of carrying on along the tow path - the light on the tress was so spectacularly beautiful I couldn't resist taking some images - was such a beautiful day

A slippery walk along the Canal

Ice Skating Duck

Went for a long walk today along the canal, and was out for about three hours - it was very cold and slippery out there but it was such a beautiful dayu

Lizard Point Cornwall

Sometimes life gets in the way of taking photos - but luckily for me and for you I have some that I haven't posted yet - these few are from the Cornwall holiday and Lizard Point - it was a very windy day, as I remember and I thought I was going to get blown of the cliff - but the cold, wind and the rain were worth it as these images show
