Book hunting in Hay-on-Wye

There's nothing like a good wander round a bookshop and there is no finer place to find a bookshop than in Hay on Wye - The Book Town of Britain. I have to say it is one of my favourite places - not only is it full of book shops but it's incredibly pretty as well.

It's not the easiest place to take photos of but maybe that's because I'm distracted by all the the bookshops.
If you don't believe me when I say the book shops are a distraction, or you've never been and fancy a vist - why not check out the official Hay on Wye website by clicking HERE

Raglan Part 2 - Better late than never

Well, I know I've been away for a bit, and I can't use the excuse that I have been out taking photos because I haven't = I do have quite a few to post though, but I have just been lazy and although it's another excuse it really seems to have done nothing but rain.

Anyway, Enjoy these and I will try and post more tomorrow!

Raglan Castle

Well we really are heading for winter, here are a few photos I took last weekend at Raglan Castle it was very cold and windy especially at the top of the tower, but as it was such a lovely day it really was worth it. I have lots more of Raglan to share (though I haven't finished editing them yet) and will post them shortly.

Sadly I am mainly restricted to taking photos on the weekend at the moment as it is getting dark very early - like at 4 pm and sometimes I don't finish work until 6! I should (and want to) start doing some night photography but it's so cold I just want to get in the warm when I finish at work.

But there will be posts on here throughout the winter as I will be sure to get out as much as I can, and have lots of things I want to take photos of at the moment.

Next week - weather permitting Hay on Wye - Yay!!

14 Locks

Yet more shots from 14 Locks as this attraction is only up the road so to speak it is so easy just to pop up there for a couple of hours of good walking and taking photos

Water water everywhere....

Well there's been a fair bit of rain lately and we are so lucky to live in an area that hasn't been flooded in years.

I took these 2 while on a long walk at the Sirhowy Valley Country Walk

More from Caerphilly Castle

I know I promised you these ages ago but finally here they are, more from our day out at Caerphilly Castle. Hoping to get out and about a bit more now, I love this time if year when the mornings are cold and risp - just got to hope it doesn't rain.

I do have a few more photos to post, some from the Sirhowy Valley Country Park and 14 Locks, I'm hoping to get them all posted on here shortly

Caerphilly Castle

Well I know it's been a while but to be honest I was laid up for a week with a pulled muscle around my rib cage I was in agony for over a week and really didn't feel up to doing anything photographic - and in fact the photos in this post were taken a few weeks ago over the August bank holiday.
But I'm better and even though my PC has died ( I don't have much luck with PC's do I?) I have managed to purloin a laptop and here are the first few.

I will be posting more, probably tomorrow night when I will post some of the re-enactment crew who were there over the weekend. Any way if you are looking for more information on Caerphilly Castle including opening times and prices click HERE to visit Cadws website.

Anyway on another note I bought some filters this week and hopefully I will get to try them out soon - so - hopefully I will be able to update the site with filtered pictures soon - well you never know

See you soon xxx

Heron on the canal

Saw this heron on the canal the other day - just as I started snapping he flew away - typical - still I did get  this shot

Portland Bill

On Wednesday we went to Weymouth for the day, it was lovely and sunny but due to the amount of time it took us to get there ( see my other blog for details) I didn't have time to take photos it the town itself, needless to say, thanks to the Olympics it is loooking stunning and was very busy and that will continue as the paralympics are about to start - so if we went to Portland to see the lighthouse - lovely and well worth the long journey.

Cosmeston Lakes

Yesterday was such a lovely warm day that the other half and myself packed a picnic and went of to Cosmeston Lakes in the Vale of Glamorgan for the afternoon.

It is such a beautiful place and well worth a visit if you are in the area. Click HERE to visit the Vale of Glamorgan and read all about these lakes, that were once quarries.

Cathays Cemetery

Cemeteries are great places to take photographs and on Sunday I went for a walk around part of Cathays Cemetery in Cardiff - I say part of the cemetery because Cathays is the 3rd largest Victorian Garden Cemetery in the United Kingdom - it's going to take a few more visits before I have all the shots I want - oh who am I kidding I will never get enough shots - anyway - here are the first batch
