The Museum of Witchcraft - Boscastle

Well after some 3 years of following the blog and liking the
Facebook page, I finally got to visit the Museum of witchcraft in Boscastle - to be honest this was the mailn reason I wanted to visit the town and as we were nearby I thought it would be rude not to!!

So firstly what does it cost? Well £5 and you will be able to enter and enjoy the exhibits and photography is permitted as long as a flash is not used.

The museum has been in Boscastle since 1960 and has the world's largest collection of witchcraft related artifacts.

Here are a few of the items you will find inside the museum

 Green Man

 Alistair Crowley's Chalice
You can find out more about him by visiting his Wikipeadia entry HERE

Knight's Templar robe

I would really recommend the museum if you are interested in the witchcraft, there is a guide book available  which you can purchase at the museum or you can read the PDF version which is available on their website.

Boscastle - Floods and Fish 'n' Chips

14 miles south of Bude and 5 miles from Tintagel, Boscastle is a lovely town and well worth a visit, devastated on August 16th 2004 when heavy rain caused flash flooding, in the town itself 89mm of rain fell in one hour and the led to the river rising by 2 meters.
Boscastle bounced back and the day we went the river was low and the tide was out, however in nearby businesses the flood water is still marked on the walls

As you can see it was a beautiful day when we visited - lovely and sunny and quite warm, so we decided to brave it and have fish and chips outside

The fish and chips were stunning absolutely beautiful and if you are in the town and fancy the above I heartily recommend the Sails Cafe as the food was amazing.

Tintagel Views

So Tintagel - birthplace of the legendary King Arthur. Tintagel lies half on the mainland and half on on a jagged headland that extends into the Cornish Sea, Tintagel has been inhabited since the Dark Ages (the 5th to 7th centuries) long before the legendary Arthur ruled the land. The views are spectacular, sadly though there isn't much of the castle left to see, however as you can see the view is amazing

For more information on Tintagel and it's history please visit the English Heritage page on Tintagel by clicking HERE or by visiting the Tintagel Castle website by clicking HERE

I just wish the weather had been better - ah well maybe next time - I will share a few more images of this wonderful view in my next post

The Rainforest Biome

There is lots to see in the Rainforest Biome at the Eden Project, from the waterfall to the flowers, the temperature can get quite warm on a hot sunny day, but as it was wet and miserable outside the temperature was comfortable.

Eden Project - Mediterranean Biome

Here are some photos from inside the Mediterranean biome, as the day we went wasn't very nice it wasn't as warm as it normally is in there, however there were lots of plants to take photos of and although it wasn't that warm I had to use the close up filters rather than the sigma lens as it kept steaming up.

I have to be honest I have no idea what the plants are so if you have any ideas please leave me comment

I still have lots of photos from the Biomes to share and will keep posting them over the next few days. And don't forget to visit the Eden Project website for more information. CLICK HERE

Eden Project

Set in what was once a clay pit near St Austell in Cornwall, the Eden Project is a fantastic place to visit, 35 acres of plants from all around the world in three segments. The first is the Outside Biome, unfortunately on the day we visited it was pouring down and we got soaked just walking to the entrance of the main Biomes so sadly the only 3 shots of the outside are the ones below.

For me driving to this was mind blowing, when I was 6 I used to live near St Austell in a village called Stenalees and in order to get to the Project we had to drive through the village. Now I hadn't been back there since we moved to Wales in the early 1980s and I wasn't expecting to drive through it to get there- a strange feeling as we actually drove past the house I lived in - completely mind blowing...

As was The Eden Project itself.. I took lots of photos and will be posting more but want to keep the photos from the separate Biomes well, separate
